On October 11, the library lecture hall on the fourth floor on Nanhu campus witnessed a warm round of applause. The opening ceremony of the Jilin University-Xilinx FPGA innovation laboratory and EITP certification base, organized by the College of Communication Engineering (CCE), was successfully held as scheduled. Xie Kainian, manager of China Xilinx University Program; Li Jianhai, director of Education Management Information Center EITP Office, Ministry of Education; Zhao Feng, general manager of Digilent China; Chen Junyan, marketing director of Shenzhen E-Elements Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “E-Elements”); Gao Shuzhen, deputy director of the Office of Academic Affairs as well as leaders, teachers and students from CCE, the College of Electronic Science and Engineering, and the College of Instrument Science and Electrical Engineering attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Kang Jian, executive deputy dean of CCE.
On behalf of Jilin University, Gao Shuzhen extended a warm welcome to the guests from afar and congratulations on the opening of FPGA innovation laboratory. She fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of Xilinx, Digilent and E-Elements in the industry and also admired the three companies for their long-term strategic vision and strong sense of social responsibility. She said that the FPGA innovation laboratory, jointly built by Jilin University and Xilinx under the university-enterprise cooperation agreement of E-Elements, will play a positive and far-reaching role in training innovation ability and improving practical skills of thousands of teachers and students in the three colleges of the university. She hoped that both parties would work together to expand the scope and depth of cooperation and endeavor to harvest more fruits. She also expressed her congratulations on the completion of EITP certification base at CCE, and her hope that the base can serve as an important platform for teaching and education, and a radiation to drive the school’s related disciplines to improve the training of applied, multi-disciplinary, skilled and innovative talents.
Xie Kainian briefed the participants on Xilinx’s history, business scope and core values, with focus on its mission objectives and strategic planning of the university program in China. He said that the FPGA laboratory, established in cooperation with our three colleges, is by far the largest laboratory in its university program in China. He hoped to strengthen cooperation with our university, so that university-enterprise cooperation can be brought to a new level.
In the warm applause, Gao Shuzhen and Xie Kainian jointly declared the opening of the laboratory.
Li Jianhai explained to the participants the guiding philosophy and development purpose of the EITP certification program. He said that the EITP certification base, established in cooperation with CCE, was the first faculty training base in Jilin Province. He hoped that the base would become an important training center of CCE, play an active role in college running, and train more modern technical talents that meet the demands of enterprises and society.
Cheng Yue, secretary of CCE party committee, delivered a speech on behalf of three colleges that directly benefited from the cooperation. He noted that the following task of the college was to further promote the construction of FPGA innovation laboratory and EITP certification base, so that it can be built into a landmark and demonstrative laboratory of CCE and an important platform for the training of standardized and professional talents. It will be employed as an important carrier to improve the college’s teaching methods, actively promote the construction of faculty and textbooks as well as the reform of curriculum system, so that it will become an important front for college running, facilitate improving the practical engineering ability of faculty and students, cultivating various kinds of talents, and better contributing to enterprises and society.
With pleasant atmosphere, Li Jianhai and Cheng Yue declared the opening ceremony of the EITP certification base together. After the ceremony, Li Jianhai and Xie Kainian gave lectures on “EITP Certification Supports Excellent Engineer Education in Universities” and “Embedded Computing and FPGA” respectively, which were well received by the participants.
